How do I create a detailed report for single inventory item?
Inventory Item Detail Report, in the inventory section of the catalogue, follows one item through a period: what came in, what went out, and what it went out on.
Open it from Add Report — see generating a report.
What it asks for
Section titled “What it asks for”- Date Range — required.
- Inventory item — required, and one item at a time. This report is deliberately narrow: it is the history of a single line rather than a picture of the whole store.
What it is for
Section titled “What it is for”The item page tells you what the stock level is now. This report tells you how it got there.
That distinction matters when a number looks wrong. A count that does not match the shelf is not answered by looking at the count again; it is answered by the movements behind it — which jobs consumed the item, what was received against a purchase order, what was assigned out to a fieldworker’s van and never came back. Those are the rows here, and one of them is usually the discrepancy.
The other use is ordering. An item’s consumption over a real period is the honest basis for what to reorder and when, in a way that a stock level on its own can never be — see managing stock.
